Video Narrative Workshop

This workshop will be taught by Prof. Chris Thornton. You’re going to write a short story and be able to make a short 2-3 min. movie.

March 9
Idea generation
An anatomy of a story
Applying your concept to a story

March 16
Storyboarding and scripting (Students will present their stories)

March 23
Video Narrative presentation and critiques (Students will present their story in a video format)

Where: BC L1 005 Senior Studio

 TITLE: TELL ME YOUR COMMUNITY STORY ABOUT SUSTAINABLE DESIGN IN PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OR COMMUNITY MOVEMENT
Story Content: Any subject related to sustainable design or any of your interests
Story Length: More or less 2-3 min.
Title and End Scene: Place the title of the movie at first and credits at the end

1: DEVELOP A STORY LINE

Tell a story that concerns your community in terms of sustainable design.

2: DEVELOP A STORYBOARD and PRESENT TO THE WORKSHOP
Sketch out 5-10 scenes with objects, people, motion/actions and/or sounds if needed.

3: SHOOT THE MOVIE (AND EDIT IF NEEDED)
Use your digital camera or hand phone to shoot your movie. (Hand phone is preferred)
Use the MP4 format.

4: POST YOUR STORY ON THE BLOG
Post your final movie on the blog along with your written story.
