[WHAT IS POSTER TO YOU]

Write two perspectives below.

1. UNDERSTANDING: Your definition or understanding of ‘poster’ as a communication medium.
I see “good” posters in general as a small piece from a larger image; I do not like posters with a lot of information. I believe that a good designed poster can make the audience stop, look, and think for a minute.

2. PLANNING: How you want to use the poster medium to send your message. What is your plan?
I am not quite sure yet, but I think I would make it with simple facts or simple yet strong visual elements.

[BEST POSTER DESIGN]

Post a best poster design and explain what and why is great about. Here are some of Milton Glaser’s posters. Research about him and his poster design world might be a first step.

Milton Glaser (b.1929) is among the most celebrated graphic designer in the United States. He has had the distinction of one-man-shows at the Museum of Modern Art and the Georges Pompidou Center. In 2004 he was selected for the lifetime achievement award of the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum. As a Fulbright scholar, Glaser studied with the painter, Giorgio Morandi in Bologna, and is an articulate spokesman for the ethical practice of design. He opened Milton Glaser, Inc. in 1974, and continues to produce an astounding amount of work in many fields of design to this day.

I like this poster, because it has a strong visual element. Moreover, the colors are happy, and they show the concept of festival.

[PAUL RAND POSTERS]
I really liked his style; it is so simple and clean.
I loved his way of using simple shapes and symbols, with strong colors. Moreover, the use of negative and positive spaces.

[CAMPAIGN POSTER BY FABRICA DESIGN CENTER]

There are many aspects to critique these posters such as visual message or use of photography or typography. Post one thing you have learned or inspired by these posters along with your opinion about them as a general audience.

I find this series of posters very interesting, because the visual part is enough to get the message, without the even the written part of the poster.
For example, I cannot see the written part in this picture, yet I get a clear idea about the concept of these posters.

[ONE CAMPAIGN]

I did not like it; I am not convinced with the design that much!!
