. My Book: exploring Package Design

. Art Direction: packaging is a wide range of explorations that starts with a simple idea on piece of paper, until you have a physical 3D object and it can be useful. in other words, process is an essential concept in order to reach to your final execution. some process are difficult and others are too simple, yet you cannot ignore any part of it because each step adjust and complete your design. my idea is to visualize 1 simple type of processing which is choosing colors and paper materials and simple image manipulation, i made this primary process a finishing product where is teared off to be opened. then i added 1 element of packaging which is couple of bottles as a representative because people always think that packaging is just series of boxes and papers. am willing to put more element but i need feedback on this draft ^.^

. Keywords: progress, process, simple and direct, eye catching.

  1. It is much better than the original book. You managed in making it simple yet clear. I liked the 2nd draft with the bottles since it gives the sence of packaging… i also felt the heirarchy within the 2nd draft (title, image, author)

    good job 🙂

  2. I disagree with aliat. the bottles did not immediately remind me of packaging. maybe it’s me, maybe you need to put a photo of a box or more photos next to the bottles….

Back to the design – I love it. nice strong typefaces below but the typeface on top doesn’t fit at all because 1)it doesn’t capture a packaging mood 2)it’s a bit too “fun” and vibrant whereas the design is “Calm”
    is it vadim’s handwriting? lol

  3. i luved the use of the texture paper. how about change the bottles pictures it doesn’t blend with background?

i agree with sara about the typeface

  4. bottles was just a choice.. i intend to change it ^.^

  5. me too I found the one without the bottles more interesting.

  6. 1. Your art direction is right on! : my idea is to visualize 1 simple type of processing which is choosing colors and paper materials and simple image manipulation, i made this primary process a finishing product where is teared off to be opened.

    2. It could be fuller with other materials that are involved in a opening process of a package such as a string, tape, or bar code… indicating an eco-friendly simple and smart package design maybe? Very subtle way. A hint of them.

    3. Try to achieve the consistency in typographic treatment in both front and back. You have achieve a great deal of completions except the kerning in the title and the position of ‘exploring.’

    4. The sub title, which has a right font, should be emphasized than the Thomson learning.
Don’t forget the consistency of typography.

    5. The layout design isn’t uploading. I can’t see. You might want to show me in the class. Let’s talk.

    Enjoy!
