Project: Research Best Book/Magazine Cover [Alia S]

1. What is the story?

“Greg Mortenson is the co-founder of the Central Asia Institute.
He has dedicated the last 12 years of his life to creating
53 schools that have educated over 20 thousand children
in the remote mountain areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan
Three Cups of Tea is a collaboration with Award-winning
journalist David Oliver Relin on Mortenson’s unforgettable
adventure and the inspiring true story of how one man really
is changing the world—one school at a time.”

2. What are the strength?

since it is a real story.. I like that the designer used a real photo from the book’s subject environment.. and it is a very powerful photo. Plus, the introduction about the “one man mission…” holds the attention very well.
Moreover, the typography is well organized.

3. What are the weaknesses? What can be improved?

I would use less font types.

1. What is the story?

Photos book for a famous photographer.

2. What are the strength?
very powerful photo that can catch your attention and push you to open the book and see more photos.
I like the rhythm of the red color that drive the eye from top starting from the word (clicks) to the lip stack, to the word (Joe)

3. What are the weaknesses? What can be improved?
I would change the background to brighter one, and without the wide black border on top of the cover.

1. What is the story?

It is a magazine front cover, and the main story about women age.

2. What are the strength?

The fact that this young woman is about 76! And I believe that the readers will be interested in knowing how might this be true.

3. What are the weaknesses? What can be improved?

The cover is about one article only! And I do not believe that this is enough for a magazine.

  1. Three cups of tea is beautifully done!

  2. The last cover you posted reminded me of “Esquire” magazine covers made by George Lois…really unique

  3. I agree with Ms Yunsun the “Three cups of Tea” looks fine to me; it is neat and clear.. I also liked the strong image used in the second book “The moment it clicks”; it shows ones self-portrait in a different perspective..

  4. The triangle composition in the 2nd book is very strong and shows coherence; causing the eyes to move and cover the whole book cover whether its edges or corners.

  5. Loved the composition of the first book
everything in there [ texture, image, colors, and typeface ] takes you to Pakistan..

    beautifully designed ^_^
